Book Sharing Monday

Ingrid's new favorite thing is to count. Not that she can actually do it, but her face lights up when you point to pictures and count whatever's on the page. Then she says her little Ingrid words and points and pretends she's counting too. It's so cute :)

So...this week's book share is One, Two, Three by Sandra Boynton. I think it's one of the few we don't own, we got this from the library. But, I will be looking for this on amazon. Anyway, we love Boynton's books--the pictures are so cute and funny, and the rhymes are addictive. I have memorized all her books and will probably NEVER get them out of my head.

Reading

Ingrid likes to look at books, whether for babies or adults...She went on the potty yesterday, too!

And this morning before story time at the library, I put on the TV for a little bit. Man, she zones out when it's on!

Fun with Fletcher

Ingrid played with Fletcher this morning. Poor cat.

She looks so innocent, doesn't she??

Farmer's Market

This morning I took Ingrid to the farmer's market while Brendan went into work for a little bit. We went up and down the aisles and admired all the plants, flowers, bread, honey, jam, zucchinis, cherries and strawberries. We picked up some eggs, strawberries, and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, then got some coffee and sat outside to wait for Brendan to pick us up. It made me realize how much I miss being part of a neighborhood that's near things!! In Milwaukee we lived in neighborhoods where you could walk to a coffee shop or bakery or corner store. Here you have to drive everywhere and I hate it! I can't wait to live in walking distance of things again.

Our New FuzziBunz

So we won two FuzziBunz diapers!! We got them in the mail a couple days ago and my first impression is that they are so luxurious! Perhaps it's because we're using super old, very used cloth diapers that have life left in them but aren't anything new fangled. I am pleased with our diapers, one because they were cheap, two because they were used, therefore nothing new had to be processed for us to get them, and three because they do the job. After all, they are being used to catch pee and poo--if they do that, I'm satisfied.

But these FuzziBunz!! Oh my god, I got them out of the envelope and just kept touching them. They have fleece inside and it's very very soft, something you'd want to put up against your baby's butt. Like you know how you feel when you ge
t a new sweatshirt and it's unbelievably soft inside? That's how these diapers are.

I just tried one on Ingrid and it's trim and cute. The diapers we have are one size, but they change size using the snaps on the front. The FB have adjustable elastic on the leg openings and on the waist. Which means they are very adjustable to kids with fat legs and/or fat bellies, which is nice. Ingrid has the chubbo legs but a skinny belly, so sometimes it's hard to find things to fit right.
She wore them a couple times and it was very strange because I KNOW she went pee, but it didn't feel wet at all. That was so strange to me, as our other diapers get wet when they are wet. I'm not sure how I feel about that, actually. I like the idea of her being able to be in her diaper for more than an hour, but the thing I like about cloth is that she feels it's wet, and hopefully will want to go on the potty sooner than if she never feels it. Hmmm, a blessing and a curse??

But overall, I am in love with FB diapers!! If we have that second baby I will for sure get some small sized fancy diapers. They are so soft and cushy and not at all bulky. I like our plain jane diapers for every day, but I could see using the FB for traveling and days out and about. I'm so thankful to clothdiaperblog.com for having this giveaway so I could try something new :)

Sleeping Beauty

Ingrid's molars are coming in and it's made bedtime really hard. She sleeps for a half hour at a time, then needs rocking. Mama is tired! Apparently so is baby: she took a second nap today and it's now been almost three hours! I had to take a few sleepy pictures because they are just the cutest when they're peaceful like that :) Even though the wind slammed the door shut and I got all up in her face with the camera, she still slept on...with her face planted in a fleece blanket. I ask you, it's 86 degrees in our house right now, would you want to sleep on a fleece blanket??

It's Summer!

It has been in the 80s this week and extremely humid. And of course, this being the first apartment we've had with air conditioning, we were excited to kick it on and bask in the coolness. But alas, the fan started making a strange, very LOUD noise on Sunday, so we had to turn it off. NO!! It's so hot and sticky in our house--the thermometer says 82, inside!! It's getting fixed right now, thank GOD!

Anyway, because we've been living in an oven, Ingrid and I have been taking advantage of the pool every single day this week. It is so nice to be able to throw on our
suits and walk across the street and go swimming. These pictures are from our porch (with new outdoor carpet!) after we got home from the pool today. Like Ingrid's new suit? I love the belly sticking out :)

This made me nearly crap my pants, though, as I could imagine her getting her head stuck in the bars and not knowing how to get her out of it. That's okay, though, I'd just call my mom--she had to get my niece unstuck from a similar situation :)

Mmm, Hummus.

Ingrid likes hummus. On her food, her tray, all over her face.

We're Out of Zout!

I just thought we would try another giveaway since we were so lucky with the FuzziBunz one :) If you are looking for a great stain remover, try Zout. It is the best. A friend gave it to me for a baby shower gift and it was probably the most useful gift I got! Now that Ingrid is feeding herself and we're going through many wardrobe changes a day, I need to get some more.

And Frugal Mommy of 2 Girls is having a giveaway for a free bottle of it! Sweet!

Book Sharing Monday

This week we picked Look and Learn Farm. (Can't find an author, but it's from Hinkler Books.) It has lots of great photos of animals, farm machines, fruit and veg. Ingrid loves to look at the fruit page and touch each kind of fruit :)

Brewers Vs. Tigers

Today we took Ingrid to Detroit to see our Milwaukee Brewers take on the Tigers. It was so strange not to be at Miller Park, but interesting at the same time. We parked in a very *detroit* parking lot, checked out where our seats were, walked around a bit and explored. Ingrid loved to flirt with everyone and say hi and clap whenever anyone cheered. She sat pretty well, only squirmed a little. She really did like to cheer when everyone else did, which meant she was cheering on the Tigers...

This year at her second game:

We Won!

Earlier I had posted about a cool diaper giveaway on clothdiaperblog.com. Turns out, we won! How exciting. We get two FuzziBunz one size diapers to add to our collection. I'm so excited to try another brand and see if there's some huge difference or not. The ones we have work fine, but what if other ones work EVEN BETTER??? I'll let you know what I find out...

A date with Ben

Today Ingrid and I went to Urban Toddler for International Story Time, where apparently they read books in German and English. I was pretty excited for it, but then we got to playing with Jami and Ben and never found out where story time was. If it even happened--it didn't seem like anyone was there for it. Maybe next week?

Anyway, Ingrid is so close to walking! She would stand there and then take a couple steps and then plop down, or follow along toys or a wall so she could hang on and walk. They had a cool shopping cart she had fun pushing around. She also spent some time using the stairs. Somehow she knows to go down backwards. Do all kids instinctively know this? Because I never showed her how to...

Allie is fun to play with.

Yesterday our friends Kristin and Allie came to play. The girls tried crayons for the first time, but found it was much more useful to eat them than scribble with them.
They also played in the splash pool on our porch, until the wasps came out and made us go back inside...After Allie got dressed again, Ingrid was determined to put on Allie's bikini bottom. She sat there for ages trying so hard to get her leg through the hole. It was pretty funny to watch.

Then we took some silly pictures of the girls in matching shirts, because they have matching shirts and how cute is that?

Last night we had some quality time with Brendan before he left for his conference in Columbus, OH. He'll be gone until Friday, god help me. Ingrid played around naked and tried to put her diaper cover on my head. It seems like that's what my life has been lately--a naked baby and clothing strewn all over the house. And some puddles of wee here and there. Joy.

Yogurt Tastes Good.

Ingrid fed herself yogurt this morning. She did a pretty good job, but I'm rethinking the idea of letting her feed herself. Now she absolutely will not let me get a spoon near her mouth without grabbing for the spoon.

She also played with Fletcher this morning. It's amazing what this cat will put up with. She starts out gently petting and then suddenly is grabbing handfuls of fur. Then she goes for the tail and he just lays there mewling pathetically but not running away. All she has to do is look at Frances and she gets bit but Fletcher, he will do anything for a little love.

Swimming

Today was super nice out, so Ingrid and I threw on our bathing suits and headed to the pool. That and the dog park are two things that make me really happy to live in this complex. The possible drug dealing going on downstairs, that's another thing altogether. But I digress--the POOL! It is still pretty cold but it feels so good on a nice hot day. We floated around for awhile, then we sat in the sun to warm up/dry off. Ingrid's hair looked really cute with a mixture of sunscreen, pool water and a mama trying to brush it out of her eyes...

Our friend Kristin gave us a box of fabric today. I guess her mom got it at a garage sale or something and thought I might find it useful. Ingrid sure did--she sat there for a half hour or so just playing with all the fabric and making a nice mess.

Book Sharing Monday

This week we are going for a book with the BEST pictures ever. I just want to hang them up somehow, frame them and use them for art for Ingrid's bedroom. But it's a library book and we have to give it back, so we'll settle for just looking at it and sharing it with you! It's ABC by Alison Jay and the pictures are just amazing.
