Sunday

Today was a bit more active than yesterday. I took Ingrid and Cody for a nice long walk after breakfast, then Ingrid napped for three hours while Brendan went into work. After lunch we decided to check out Pinckney State Recreation Area to see what we could find for hiking around here. It was so nice out today! We put Ingrid in the backpack and hiked a trail, then found the beach and let her butt air out :) She sat in the water for a little bit, crawled around and got dirty, we checked out the old school refreshment stand, and then it was time to go home and get dinner. It was a great day!

Saturday

We had the laziest day on Saturday! Both Brendan and I felt hung over even though neither of us had been drinking. Well, other than one beer, which Ingrid thought she'd help herself to...

She must've been feeling a bit out of it, too:

I did manage to make her some new pants. I got some cool fabric from fabricworm and haven't wanted to cut any of it because it's so cute.

I have to find some of Brendan's little kid pictures, but for anyone who thinks she looks exactly like me, she doesn't here!! This could be a picture of Brendan at 13 mo. old!

Dirty Dirty Dirty!!

Today we had pizza for lunch. Then we did some gardening. Oh, and also, Ingrid ate part of a banana. Which made for one seriously messy girl. Pizza on the face+banana crusted in her eyelashes+a bunch of dirt everywhere+a poopy diaper thrown in the mix=midday bathtime!! The water was so gross afterward! But she had fun and that's what counts :)

Today

We went to Ikea today. I got a cool octopus hanger to hang diapers to dry. We also got a bin with a lid to keep dirties in, and some new pots for our plants that need to be repotted. It was a productive trip.
Ingrid has been pretty funny lately. She sees the camera and instantly smiles this squinty little smile, all teeth showing. She did the wink again, I think she actually knows how to now??
She's at such a fun age, I'll have to look back at this in about twelve years to remember my sweet little girl :)

Cloth Diaper Update

We found some! A family had a gotten a couple bins from someone else and decided not to use them. So we got about 45 diapers, snap-in inserts for extra absorbancy, 12 prefolds, and an assortment of sizes of covers. All this for $50! Not bad.

Ingrid seems to like them just fine, and I personally enjoy her new big booty. Her shorts didn't even fit when I put them on over the diaper--she had to go up a size!

Now we are just awaiting our diaper covers we ordered from etsy. The ones we got today were totally old school vinyl/elastic uncomfortable looking things so we ordered some colorful ones that should be here soon :)

Cloth Diapers

We are on a quest to start cloth diapering! I debated when Ingrid was born if I wanted to do these, but of course we were so poor and I thought it would be gross to wash diapers, blah blah blah. I wish I had really thought about how much disposables cost. It's so easy not to see how expensive they are because you're just shelling out a small amount each time. But then I looked at the fact I spend $35 every three weeks on a case of diapers, that's 17 cases in a year, that's $595! Which makes the start up cost of cloth diapers, at $100-300 look really great! Yesterday was spent on the computer researching the different kinds and getting really overwhelmed. There are so many different varieties, each with pros and cons. I just don't know where to start, how much I want to spend, what's going to work for me. Luckily I found a few women on craigslist that have been really helpful and we're off to meet them this morning. Hopefully we will come home with some new cloth diapers and begin our journey. Also, there's a diaper giveaway on clothdiaperblog.com. Wouldn't that be awesome if we got some freebies to try?

Gallup Park

We went for a walk yesterday morning in Gallup Park. On our way to the trail we saw a family of geese, the babies were so fluffy and cute! But when I tried to get closer to take a picture, Mama Goose let me know she did not approve--she started doing whatever weird hissing sound she does to warn others to back off. I backed off.

Winking

Yesterday Ingrid winked at me. She was trying to blink but managed to do it with only one eye. It was pretty cute. Obviously.

Ingrid's Summer Day

Today we went to Allie's to play. The girls played with the water table, then in the sandbox, where Ingrid decided to eat sand. Allie fell asleep in the swing which was our cue to go home. We changed into our bathing suits and tried out the pool for the first time! It was freezing but it was hot enough out to feel refreshing. Once we got numb.
