A friend was selected to do a yogurt taste-testing party for Stonyfield Farms' YoKids and YoBaby yogurts. We, of course, were delighted to take part. Both kids could live on yogurt and crackers if allowed to. It was a nice day out, Melanie set up the water table, there were new kids to play with. Otis especially enjoyed himself. He tried banana-pumpkin, a big hit, and blueberry, another hit, and strawberry-vanilla, another hit. I doubt he'd find a flavor of yogurt he didn't enjoy...

Taste of Ann Arbor
Yesterday we took advantage of living so close to downtown Ann Arbor and walked there for a street festival. There were tons of tents from all the local restaurants and we got to try ribs, corn, beans, pad thai, and of course cupcakes!
It was so crazy weatherwise yesterday. First it was sunny and bright, then gloomy, then pouring rain, then back to sunny. We walked while it was sunny, got there to gloom, and stayed through the rain. Ingrid could've cared less about the rain, she was just enjoying seeing everyone, listening to the music, and eating tons of food.

A lady from the paper was taking pictures of her, so Ingrid is now online in a slide show about the event! Check it out here. She's about 58 seconds in. There will be pictures in the Sunday paper, too, so we'll have to get it next week and see if she made it in there, too.
Once again so glad we moved and so glad we live where we do. I enjoy our time here in Michigan so much more now that we're by things!!

Black Bean Soup
Yesterday I made the BEST black bean soup ever. Recipe:

2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can veg broth
1 carrot, shredded
1/2 red onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp cumin
dash of cayenne
Saute the veggies in oil and spices a few minutes, then add broth and beans. Cook on low 25 minutes, then let cool. Puree in blender. Serve with a squeeze of fresh lime juice and a dollop of sour cream. YUM.
Brendan wrinkled his nose and refused to eat it, but he missed out. Ingrid and I ate two bowls apiece! We made corn muffins to go along and it was a great meal that was really filling. Tonight is lentil stew with homemade bread, another thing Brendan will probably refuse to eat. Please do not pass that on to Ingrid, she is gung ho about eating ANYTHING!!
Here she is eating her soup last night. Bath time was directly after dinner time.
