The Little Explorer

Random pictures today. First is a picture of Ingrid playing with condoms. Haha! I was on the computer and thought I had put things away so she could explore in our room freely. Forgot to put them away, though, and I looked down and she was pulling them out of the box, looking at the directions paper. It was so funny!

Also, she found her way on top of the dishwasher today. Now standing near it is just not enough. Once she gets something down, it is onto the next thing. Which would be crawling on and into the dishwasher...Yea!

And another fun thing she's learned is where her head is. She ~loves~ Head Shoulders Knees Toes and now can point to her head and just waits until that part of the song where she can point there. She just learns so much every day!

Book Sharing Monday

This week we went for Harry the Dirty Dog, by Gene Zion, pictures by Margaret Bloy Graham. It's about a dog who hates baths, runs away from home, gets REALLY dirty, and then returns home to find his family doesn't recognize him. Until he gets a good long bath, that is. This book was given to us at my baby shower and has become one of Ingrid's favorites, as you can tell by the chew marks on the corner :)

Animals

Today we went to a petting farm and saw lots of animals. Ingrid had fun looking at a donkey:

Chickens:

A goat:

and even an emu!

Summer??

Yesterday was HOT!

Ingrid tried on some of her summer clothes and we went out with the dog a few times.

Then she napped twice and went to bed early. The fresh air wears us all out!

Another Great Thursday

Today Ingrid helped me in the kitchen while I made breakfast. She loves that cupboard but hates that the garbage disposal gets in the way of her truly getting in there.

Our lunch today looked so colorful and summery I took a picture of it. Ingrid loved it. Her new word to say is cheese--she's a Wisconsin baby!

After naps we went to meet Jami and Ben at the park. Yesterday we met them there and it hailed on us...Today was much better weather. Ingrid got herself scraped up, the first of many I'm sure. She climbed on the slide and then turned to go down head first. She.has.no.fear.EVER. I think she's going to be one of those people that has to figure out for herself that it will hurt or that it's a bad idea. *sigh*

Oh yeah, and she ate sand.

Book Sharing Monday (a day late!)

The book I chose for our first share is The Milkman. It has simple rhymes, great pictures, and a fun story about a milkman and his cranky cat delivering their goods one morning. It is one of my all time favorites!

We found out about Book Sharing Monday through a blog I follow and I thought it was such a great idea! There should be a link somewhere on my page if you want info on joining.

New Sling!

Hooray, it came in the mail today! We were getting a bit sick of the pouch sling because it's hard to get it to fit over coats and keep Ingrid from squirming around. So, we got a ring sling that can be tightened or loosened to fit correctly. We found someone on Etsy that hand makes them. It's so cute! Ingrid snuggled right in when we tried it on. Now it just has to quit raining so we can go out and use it.

Friendly Squirrels

We have one friendly squirrel that comes to our deck every day. Sometimes he just sits in the tree, sometimes he gets on the deck, sometimes he comes right up to the sliding door and looks in on us. The cats ~love~ to sit and stare back at him and make all kinds of funny cat hunting noises. Today the squirrel stayed for quite some time so we got a chance to watch him and take some pictures. Ingrid probably thought it was no big deal, just another type of puppy.

Nichols Arboretum

Yesterday we took advantage of the weather--it was 70!!-to take a walk through the UofM Arboretum. Ingrid had a good time talking to the trees:

We got some good exercise (that was a STEEP hill!)

We saw some cool old trees:

Some fresh spring growth:

And some friendly squirrels:

It will be fun to go back once there are leaves on all the trees and flowers everywhere.

Playdate at the Park

Today was beautiful and sunny, so we met some friends at a nearby park.

This park is so cool, it has all kinds of fun stuff for the older kids to play on. Ingrid liked to just crawl around, check stuff out. I made those owl pants for her today, check them out :)

She really seemed to want to use the climbing wall. Maybe when you get a little older, dear.

It got to be past naptime, though, and the swing nearly lulled her to sleep. She did end up falling asleep in the sling on the walk home and seemed very comfortable there!

Ingrid's First Easter!

Ingrid got an Easter basket with fun toys. Brendan said he'd eat her jelly beans and I just looked at him--you think I got our 10 month old daughter candy?? Oh, he was joking.
She got a shaker like the ones we use at story time, which she thought was cool.

She also loved the plastic grass.

We went to Corie's for dinner. As always, Ingrid loves to play with the kids. Keilah and Camden won't leave her alone, it's sweet.

They had fun finding Easter eggs.

Ingrid had fun, too, until it was late afternoon and she was overtired and feeling sick. Isn't that the most pathetic looking kid you've ever seen??

But we left and she slept almost the whole way home. It was a long day.
